invite_a_friend_council_social_2Join GSUSA’s effort to build 1500 new troops nationwide.  From November 15th to December 15th, any registered adult member can invite a friend to start a new Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, or Junior troop and win!  The steps to win are simple:

  1. Invite a friend to become a new troop leader
  2. Have the new leader complete a background check by selecting the “Background Check” tab at

http://www.gscm.org/en/for- volunteers/become-a-troop-leader/Regis.html and register at https://girlscoutsusa.ca1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9AZrRgPnqwUxVxr

  1. The referring volunteer completes a survey at org/inviteafriend after their friend agrees to start a new troop
  2. GSUSA will send an online coupon code for $50 to the referring volunteer and a new leader kit will be sent to the new leader once GSCM confirms the new troop, troop number and plans for the first meeting

There is a limit of 2 new leader referral incentives per registered adult member.  New troop start-ups must be confirmed by GSCM by 01/15/17.

Calling All Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors!

You are invited to apply to be a 2017 Distinguished Woman Shadow. As a Distinguished Woman shadow you will spend the day observing one of the five 2017 Distinguished Women Honorees at her place of work. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that provides an up-close and personal view of the corporate world through a woman’s eye. Interviews will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017. KarenEvanshadowday

The Shadow Girl experience offers a young woman the chance to engage in a mentor/mentee relationship which often outlives the year in which the shadowing experience occurs.  The selected 2016 Shadow Girls took full advantage of this extraordinary opportunity and gained important advice to take into their futures. We encourage all high school age Girl Scouts to apply for this extraordinary opportunity!

#GivingTuesday is November 29th

On November 29th—Giving Tuesday– millions of people across the US will be making donations to causes and organizations they believe in and Girl Scouts of Central Maryland will be among those organizations. Please consider making a financial gift in support of the work we do to empower our 24,000 girl members. Elizabeth De La Luz, Hispanic Outreach CoordinatorOur G.I.R.L.S are Go-Getters, Innovators, Risk-Takers and Leaders. Using these qualities, our girls develop the courage, confidence and character to make a positive impact in their neighborhoods, schools and communities. Girl Scouts do make the world a better place because of what they learn in Girl Scouts:  “…to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law.”

Support Girl Scouts today because our girls are our future.

CEI UPDATE: Member Care is here to serve you!

Salesforce, the council’s new membership database system, will officially launch on January 4, 2017– that means changes and improvements for our volunteers and members in the New Year! In preparation for the launch there will be changes in how you contact staff, and how answers to questions and issues you may have will be provided.

The new CEI Member Care team is here to serve you and address your questions and issues in a timely manner.  They will be your first point of contact via phone (410-358-9711) or email —membercare@gscm.org.  When you call in you will be routed to a Member Care team specialist who, along with other Member Care team staff, will work to provide you consistent answers by referring to our Solutions Catalog which provides answers to frequently asked questions.  If the Member Care team does not have the answer to your questions, they will escalate it to the subject matter experts in our Council who will work on providing you the answers.  All interactions with the Member Care team will be logged in the system as a case and you will receive updates on the case status.

We ask that you continue to be patient with us as we make tweaks to ensure a smooth and effective process.

Your Vote can Count!

GSCM is looking for delegates to attend the Girl Scout National Council’s 54th Convention. The theme for 2017 is G.I.R.L. — Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader. Every three years, Girl Scouts gather together at the National Council Session (NCS) and Convention to reinvigorate our Movement, celebrate our accomplishments, and chart our future. Our 2017 National Council Session/54th Convention in Columbus, Ohio, October 4 through October 8, promises to honor our cherished traditions and, at the same time, propel the Movement forward for girls and young women.

It’s an exciting opportunity to participate using your parliamentary procedures skills and watch them in action.  If you are an adult member of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland or a girl member age 14 or over, you are eligible to be a delegate. Delegates, who must be registered members of GSUSA at the time of the convention, will be elected at the Annual Meeting in May 2017.

The application deadline is January 15, 2017 at 5pm; the convention delegate application will be available in the November 22nd Program & Events eblast. Don’t miss this opportunity to let your voice and vote be heard.
